Your Choices When Changing Your Hair Style

A woman's hair says a lot about her, but it can be saying the wrong things if you do not take care of it. If you find yourself in a hairstyle rut, then you definitely need to think about changing things up, whether just a little or in a more dramatic way. No matter which way you choose to go with it, you have lots of hair style choices to choose from.

Changing up your style can have a lot of added benefits. Many people feel refreshed when they do something different, almost as if your follicles now have a blank slate to build upon. Having something that is flattering to your face and body, in a color that is perfect for your skin tone can give you a boost of confidence.

This train of thought also extends to your hair type. For curly tresses, then consider investing in a good straightening iron and use it each morning to make your mane smooth and straight. On the flip side, if you have super straight hair, you can invest in a set of hot rollers or a curling iron to give you soft curls or waves.

No matter what your head looks like now, you do not have to do anything dramatic like cuts or dyes to make it look different. In some cases, you can leave the length and color as it is, and just change how you style it each day. For example, braids and buns will easily tame your long tresses in a flash.

However, if you're tired of long tresses, then perhaps you should try going short. Summertime is the time many women lop off their length, but anytime of year is fine if you wear a hat to keep warm. A good way to dip your toe into the shorthaired water is to try a lob, which is short for a long bob. You can wear this blunt or layer it to flatter your face. You can even wear bangs with it if you so desire. However, if you decide that you want to go drastic and dramatic, try a pixie cut instead.

Another way to make your entire face look dramatically different is to use hair dye. A quick trip to any supermarket or beauty supply store will show that you have a ton of options in this arena. From deep, dark black hues that are almost blue, to blondes so light that they almost look white, you can choose anything you desire. If you are not sure about a color but really want to experiment, consider going with a semi-permanent or temporary color that washes out in a few weeks.

For a more subtle look, consider sticking with your natural tone but adding highlights. These are lighter streaks that blend into your hair to give it a sunkissed look anytime of year. There are also lowlights where you put in darker streaks for a style that will definitely set you apart.

You can try one or more of these effects to find out what works for you. No matter which one you go for though, you will have to do some maintenance. Use moisturizing styling products, and get your hair trimmed not only to maintain your cut, but to avoid unsightly split ends as well.
